herlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows

The second part of the Sherlock Holmes series starts from where the first part concluded. Holmes is tracking down Professor Moriarty, who Holmes suspects for being responsible for the serial bombing and mysterious deaths happening around. Holmes with his partner Dr. Watson (Jude Law) and few rookies including Madam Simza Heron (Noomi Rapace) tracks down the Villain Moriarty.

The movie opens with a spectacular brief tracking sequence of Irene Adler (Rachel McAdams), who is in a task of delivering a parcel as dictated by Professor Moriarty. Holmes however senses the danger and prevents the recipient and Adler from Moriarty's trap. Adler is poisoned by Moriarty for not completing the task. Adler is assumed to be dead but the movie didn't say so. Its just no Adler since then. Dr. Watson is all set for his wedding and he avoids assisting Holmes in his mission of tracking down Moriarty. Situation drags Watson into the mission as Moriarty tries to kill Watson and family on their way to honeymoon and Holmes rushes for the rescue. Its Complete entertainment since then.

This version of Sherlock Holmes is not as sound as the earlier one on paper, but the accomplished chemistry between Holmes and Watson is what that moved the movie forward. The humor in the movie was at its best. Robert Downey Jr's attitude in the movie was very comical yet appealing. Dialogues were a bit lengthy but it was the need.

Its the second half of the movie which turns on the fire. We have seen 'n' number of movies where the screen play moves with the game of chess. This happened here again. In the climax Holmes and Moriarty get to play the game of chess while Dr. Watson tries is carrying out a job of finding the person who is just about to carry out a suicide attack in an all nation peace meeting featuring Prime ministers and Ambassadors of various countries. This scene is the biggest positive of the movie.

Holmes pre-visioning idea before a fight in the first part was awesome. It got even better this time around. He tries it out with mathematical genius professor Moriarty, who was a boxing champion when he was in college. This time Holmes' plan doesn't exactly work out as Moriarty is as smart as Holmes to do the same to evade him. Holmes and Moriarty fall from a unmeasurable height into a terrain. Sadness stuck the theater for a while but..... Better go watch the movie. The epilogue made people feel refreshing as it was filled with humor.

To the technical part. The Cinematography part was very well justified though it couldn't meet the standard set by the prequel. At no time the audience felt it was a move. The set, costumes were perfect. The background score added a lot of value to the movie.

The Verdict: Fantastic overall !!!
PS: Dr. Watson's dog dies again !
