FeedBurner Signs Off Twitter. Now What? Is FeedBurner Going Away? Do Not Wait to Find Out!

Most bloggers have been using Feedburner to manage their RSS feeds since before they got bought out by Google.

Not a peep about their plans so far – but FeedBurner has never been the same since Google bought them out.

FeedBurner Signs Off Twitter

I knew about that tweet because I happened to be Skyping to Phil Hollows, creator of FeedBlitz about our plans to migrate all FeedBurner accounts. Phil just published his thoughts on FeedBurner Officially Not Listening Any More.

NOW we better wake up and get it done because better safe than sorry. If Google kills FeedBurner all your feeds will quit working, your subscribers will be lost, and you’ll be starting over.

Google already forced us to migrate once and we don’t know what is coming -
so why don’t we all go ahead and migrate to FeedBlitz now?

Many of us have been wanting to migrate to FeedBlitz anyway, but it is so powerful and does so much that we haven’t made that happen yet. What we need is bloggers helping bloggers to make the transition.

Feedburner to FeedBlitz Migration Manual

As soon as any of us has experience and skills, moving will be easier for all of us. Fortunately, Phil @FeedBlitz now has a Free FeedBurner Migration Manual.

There are also many other resources to make migrating simpler. I will add links to the best of them at the bottom of this post shortly.

Twitter Chat Expert Deborah Anderson @SocialWebCafe is already hard at work migrating GrowMap, setting up FeedBlitz on our new B2C Twitter Chat Services blog and making sure our FeedBlitz setups for SMBcontest and our other JV blogs are properly optimized.

Businesses and blogs MUST be building mailing lists and use social media to drive more subscribers to their lists.

FeedBlitz handles both RSS feeds like FeedBurner
AND social media in one solution.

If you use Feedburner now, check out the FeedBurner Migration Guide from FeedBlitz, our choice as the best premium FeedBurner Alternative.

FeedBlitz links ARE affiliate links. That is NOT why I recommend them. I use them – I want to use them exclusively. I recommend others use them at least for their RSS feeds and seriously consider using them for their email marketing and social media marketing as well.

FeedBlitz provides major advantages – especially to agencies,
consultants, VAs, and others who manage accounts for clients.

If you are a VA or marketing professional, within your own FeedBlitz account you can:

Create a new account for a client. Ask your client’s permission to give you access to their already existing FeedBlitz account

For those unfamiliar with affiliate marketing, this section applies to ANY affiliate program:

If you click on one or more affiliate links and buy FROM THE SAME DEVICE USING THE SAME BROWSER an affiliate may receive a commission for that sale IF you do not clear cookies.

It does not cost the BUYER any more if an affiliate is paid than if they are not.

If you have clicked on more than one affiliate link, some affiliate programs pay the commission to the LAST AFFILIATE LINK aka LAST CLICK and others pay to the FIRST AFFILIATE LINK you clicked on.

If you would like to make sure a particular affiliate receives a commission for your purchase:

Clear ALL cookies (unless you know exactly which cookies to clear – that may NOT be obvious)Click on their affiliate linkLet them know you used their link so they can see whether they receive credit

This is especially thoughtful when the commissions are monthly recurring like FeedBlitz or AWeber.

I encourage bloggers to use and promote FeedBlitz.
If you run into difficulty, leave a comment
or contact me directly for assistance.

Internal Server Errors on Twitter AND FeedBurner? CISPA Passed House Headed for Senate

Stop CISPA

Am I the only one who wonders what is going on when there are issues with many major sites close together? Yesterday, Twitter was down. Today I tried to log into Yahoo mail and it was down.

Twitter is still giving Internal Server Errors regularly and I’m getting a lot of tweets that say “Tweet Does Not Exist” when I try to retweet them, but they’re sitting right there and then go away.

Twitter’s Internal Server Error Failures mean
you should expect another Twitter outage.

Twitterfeed has been crawling for weeks – sometimes taking many minutes to ever load any page. Now we are getting internal server errors trying to move off FeedBurner.

Funny “coincidence” – or related? Internal server errors
on Twitter AND on FeedBurner when I have NEVER
seen internal server errors on either one before.

I find it highly unlikely that NO ONE clicked the link for my post about FeedBurner possibly going away – not even when Amy Vernon, the Bacon Queen and highest rated woman Digger ever – retweeted it -  so I click through to Bit.Ly and try to share it:

Bit.ly BitMark

But Bit.ly Bitmark sharing isn’t working either:

Bitly not working

Whenever many different sites that are theoretically separate start failing at the same time, it is likely that they have something in common that is causing the failures.

If different kinds of Internet access are down at the same time, again, it is likely that there is something in common. We know there are people who want to control what we can see and share online.

We know that bills keep being introduced that claim to protect copyrights but can actually be used to silence bloggers – especially bloggers like me.

Stop CISPA ~ Click Image to Read Stop CISPA – A Nightmare Worse than SOPA and PIPA on DonCaprio.comCISPA has already passed the house and could be voted on at any time. According to the Daily Caller:

CISPA is “The Cyber Intelligence Sharing and Protection Act (CISPA), a bill introduced by Michigan Republican Rep. Mike Rogers that passed the House by a comfortable 248-168 vote margin in April.

CISPA will be considered by the Senate sometime next week.

I added the image below to my Facebook Timeline and encourage everyone to take these threats seriously.

How to Stop CISPA and every other bill that threatens the Internet as we know it

NOTE: In every movement there are people who appear to be supporters who are actually infiltrators trying to stop progress. This can not really be helped, so we must just do what we must do and let that sort itself out later.

How to Use Twitter for Business

There are various ways Twitter can be used for business. It’s a great platform for potential customers to be introduced to a product and to gain affinity for the business.
People all over the world can read your tweets and learn more about your company. Twitter has the ability to make a company grow in popularity and success.
First let’s hear from Murray Newlands with some tips on how to tweet successfully:

A company’s presence on Twitter shows how popular they really are with customers. One of the easiest ways to grow in presence is by having a good profile with a clear picture and a personal description. This allows potential followers to know what your business does. Users can easily identify the company when they see it outside of Twitter and know who they are.
Active engagement with Twitter users is needed to keep a company’s presence popular on Twitter. Having conversations with users on the public timeline allows others to join and increases engagement for the company.
Make your tweets re-tweetable so others can share them with friends and re-tweet a user when they mention the company or it’s products. This shows followers that you are aware of their presence and respect their opinions.

Twitter is highly valuable when launching a new product. Tweets that promote contests or show sneak peaks of a product can create buzz. This can lead to more potential sales by fans that become invested in the company by tweeting and re-tweeting about a product.
The product can be a success months in advance of its release based solely on the conversations people are having about it on Twitter.
